An Implementation Guide is designed to assist individuals who are implementing the MISMO XML standards by providing helpful information and sample files. It includes guidance on usage of the standard. Although it is not intended as an XML tutorial, certain aspects of XML that are important for the proper implementation of the standard are highlighted. It provides an overview of the data architecture, discussions of specific areas of importance and some sample data.
Separate document addenda may include guidance specific to each of the mortgage process areas like credit reporting, mortgage insurance, mortgage application, underwriting, etc.
It is highly recommended that an Implementation Guide be developed for each transactional DTD, as addenda to the generic MISMO Implementation Guide. |

Purpose
1. Introduction
1.1 Context
MISMO incorporates all facets of the mortgage industry. Each area of the industry has its own working group. Each workgroup should provide an implementation guide that gives specific details on how to incorporate their transaction(s).
1.2 Purpose
Provide information on what should be in an implementation guide.
1.3 Scope
Since implementation details will be different for each workgroup, each workgroup should provide instructions in order to make implementing their part of the standard as easy as possible. There should be a common look and feel to the guides, as well as some common components.
1.4 Audience
Designers of systems that create and consume the XML instance documents used in Real Estate Finance transactions.
1.5 Terminology
The key words “MUST”, “MUST NOT”, “REQUIRED”, “SHALL”, “SHALL NOT”, “SHOULD”, “SHOULD NOT”, “RECOMMENDED”, “MAY”, and “OPTIONAL” in this document are to be interpreted as described in RFC 2119. See «add reference to MISMO glossary for terminology used in this MEG».
1.6 Document Status
The information supplied in this document reflects the MISMO interoperability principles at the time of writing. It is a living document, which will be updated as required to reflect the evolving nature of XML technologies and service requirements identified by MISO constituency. Comments on this document should be sent to the MISMO designated contact identified in the document preface.
